The inaugural Lunch on The Air net took place today (2022-05-11) and I’m happy to declare it a rip-roaring success.

Six amateur radio stations took part, calling in from near Telford, Hednesford, Cannock, Stone and Stafford.

Call signs and signal reports were as follows:

The sixth participant was of course myself, based in South Stafford.

I’m aware of at least one station (from near Wrexham) that did try and break-in but sadly was not heard. Hopefully they will have better luck next time.

The net was enjoyable, with details on operating conditions exchanged. It was great to work G4DFG for the first time, who is returning to the hobby. G4DFG was operating from near Telford with a mobile whip and received favourable signal reports from the rest of the group.

If you missed it, don’t worry. The net will be taking place again on Wednesday May 18th, 2022 (2022-05-18) at 12:30pm local time, on 144.700 MHz FM (or alternately 145.375 MHz/S15/V30)

For those in the area who cannot make a Wednesday lunchtime, there is a regular evening net you would be most welcome to join.

Until next time, 73!
